Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 August 2026

Using Vifo means accepting these terms. Together with the Privacy Policy they are the whole agreement between you and this service.

Who provides this service

Vifo (vifo.app) is operated by Youli Global Limited, registered in Hong Kong — the party you contract with under these terms for the service itself. Payment is a separate contract: our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all orders (see "Subscription and payment"). The product is built and maintained by one person. It is provided AS IS: no SLA, no round-the-clock on-call, and occasional maintenance windows. That is not defensive boilerplate — it is the truth, and setting expectations straight beats explaining afterwards.

Your account

There is no separate registration step: the first time you sign in — with a one-time email code or with Google — an account is created for that email address, and by signing in you accept these terms. You sign in either with a one-time code or with Google. Signing in with Google uses the email address on that Google account; if an account here already has that address, you land in that same account. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including every API key and every upload link you hand out — whoever holds them can write into your notebook. If a key leaks, disconnect it on the Connect page; that takes effect immediately. If an upload link goes to the wrong person, close it on the trip page.

Your content stays yours

You keep copyright in the photos, videos and text you upload; we claim no ownership. To run the service you grant us a limited licence: to store your files, generate display-size and cropped derivatives, present them on your own pages, and present them to anyone holding a share link you have opened. That licence exists only to operate the service and ends when you delete the content.

Acceptable use

Do not use this service to:

  • Upload anything you do not have the right to upload, or that infringes someone else's copyright, privacy or likeness.
  • Upload unlawful content, or content that harasses, threatens or defames someone.
  • Use it as general file storage or a distribution host — it is a travel journal, not an image CDN.
  • Work around quotas, hammer the API automatically, or do anything that degrades the service for other people.
  • Attempt to reach an account or data that is not yours.

Subscription and payment

Free tier: up to 10 trips, up to 50 photos per trip, up to 200 quick notes per trip, up to 500 unfiled quick notes, a 2GB storage ceiling, and no video uploads; the archive stays readable, searchable and shareable forever. Plus: $6.9/month or $39.9/year, unlimited trips, items and quick notes, video uploads, video transcription (20 per day), with a 50GB fair-use ceiling.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: it is the seller on your receipt, it collects the payment and any tax, and it handles billing questions and refunds on our behalf. Checkout and the customer portal are hosted by Paddle; we neither see nor store your card number. Subscriptions renew automatically for the period you chose until you cancel. Any price change is announced one billing period ahead and does not apply to a period already begun.

You can cancel at any time, in one click in Paddle's customer portal (the "Manage subscription" button on your account page). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — the time you have already paid for runs out normally, nothing is cut off mid-period.

Refund policy

Refunds: an annual plan can be refunded in full within 14 days of starting, provided fewer than 50 new items were uploaded in that time; monthly plans are not pro-rated and cancellation takes effect at period end. Where the law says otherwise — for example a statutory cooling-off period in some countries — the law wins. If billing goes wrong (a double charge, a charge after cancelling), tell us and we refund it, no argument.

Whenever a payment is refunded or charged back — whether we initiated it or Paddle did — the subscription ends at that moment and the account returns to the free tier; everything already uploaded stays, under the free tier's rules.

Prices shown exclude any applicable tax; tax is whatever Paddle calculates at checkout for your location, and it appears on the receipt Paddle sends you.

What happens after you cancel

This gets its own section because it is the clause most likely to catch someone out. After you cancel, not one item of your existing material is deleted. You return to the free tier's capabilities.

The rule in full: your ten most recent trips behave normally — they open, they edit, you can create new share links for them. From the eleventh onwards a trip is locked: the card stays on the shelf (title, cover and dates all visible), opening it offers to renew, and it cannot be edited or given a new share link. Share links you already sent are unaffected and keep opening — those addresses live in other people's chat histories, and those people have nothing to do with your subscription. Resubscribe and the lock lifts at once.

Share links

A share link is a public page that anyone holding the address can open without signing in, so treat it as public. Public pages carry no GPS coordinates and no video transcripts, and are marked not to be indexed by search engines, but anyone with the address can read them. When you no longer want it seen, switch it off (the address is kept and can be reopened). To make copies you already sent permanently useless, issue a new address instead — that breaks the link for everyone you sent it to, and cannot be undone.

Changes to the service, and termination

Features change, and quotas and prices may be adjusted; material reductions will be announced in advance. To delete your account, write to the address below and we will remove your account and your material; once done it cannot be undone. We will terminate an account only for serious or repeated breaches of the acceptable use terms above, and we will leave you time to export your data first — unless the law forbids advance notice.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided AS IS and AS AVAILABLE, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted operation. We do our best to look after your things, but please keep your own backup too — especially of original photos, which cannot be recreated.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss; and in any event our aggregate liability is capped at the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Liability that cannot be excluded by law is unaffected.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Disputes arising from these terms or this service should first be raised through the contact details below; failing agreement, they go to the courts of competent jurisdiction in Hong Kong SAR. Mandatory consumer rights granted to you by the law of your own country are not diminished by this clause.
