Vifo vs Triplium: two ways to write a trip while it happens

Last updated: 16 September 2026 · 3 min read

Both write your trip while you are still on it — that is what makes them the closest neighbours in this category. Triplium is a standalone iPhone app you drop photos and short voice notes into. Vifo is a connector inside the assistant you already talk to, and it quotes your own words exactly rather than paraphrasing them.

Disclosure: Vifo is ours — we built it. There are no affiliate links on this page and we earn nothing whichever you pick. Triplium's side of the table is taken from its own public materials as of September 2026; we have not run a full trip through it, so check current details before deciding.

The honest comparison

Triplium
Vifo
When it meets the trip
TripliumDuring it — notes go in as the day happens
VifoDuring it too; this is the one axis where the two genuinely agree
Where it lives
TripliumIts own iPhone app, installed and opened like any other app
VifoNothing installed; a connector inside Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or any MCP agent
How you capture
TripliumPhotos plus short voice or text notes, dropped into the app as you go
VifoA one-tap upload link you open on your phone — no sign-in — plus whatever you say in the chat you already have open
Core output
TripliumAI-written daily summaries and a full trip story
VifoA day-by-day notebook: photo descriptions, a timeline, and your remarks kept as they were said
Your own words
TripliumYour notes are raw material the AI writes prose from
VifoStored verbatim and never polished — a rule of the system, not a setting you have to find
Platforms
TripliumiPhone
VifoAnywhere your agent runs — phone, laptop, web — and any browser for the upload link
Sharing
TripliumSharing happens from the app; check its current materials for the details
VifoOne private link per trip, viewers need no account, and shared pages never carry GPS coordinates
Price
TripliumIts own tiers — check the App Store listing, it is a very new product
VifoFree for 10 recent trips, 50 photos each; Plus $6.9/mo or $39.9/yr

Pick Triplium if…

  • You want one dedicated icon on the home screen — open it, dump the day, close it. A connector inside a chat is one indirection too many for you.
  • You do not pay for Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini and do not want to start: an MCP connector needs an agent that supports custom connectors, and for most people that is a paid plan.
  • You travel with an iPhone and are happy for the journal to live there.

Pick Vifo if…

  • You want the sentence you actually said kept word for word, not turned into a paragraph that sounds like everyone else's trip.
  • You already talk to an AI assistant every day and would rather add a capability than install, learn and remember another app.
  • Someone travelling with you should be able to add photos and notes from their own phone without an account — and you want one private link to send home afterwards.

The real question is not which writes better prose — both lean on the same class of model. It is where the writing happens, and what survives it. Triplium keeps the whole loop inside one app; Vifo keeps your words untouched and lives wherever your agent does. If you want to read the output before choosing, two finished notebooks are open: Lisbon and Iceland.

Your own agent can write a notebook like this — you photograph, it writes. Free covers your 10 most recent trips.
